National Police Week

What is National Police Week?

As we close out National Police Week, we want to take a moment to honor and show respect to our officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Every year, this special week is a time to honor those law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and provide support to their survivors and the community. National Police Week began as a memorial service in 1982 and has since grown to be a public awareness campaign sponsoring a series of events that attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers each May.

KwikSafety is proud to be among the many organizations dedicated to supporting and honoring America’s law enforcement community. With an ever-pressing need to reduce these fatalities, our team wants to thank the police, law enforcement, and traffic officers that continue to place their lives on the line.

How We Are Trending in 2022

Recent reports show 58 officers killed in traffic-related incidents in 2021, compared to 42 during the same period last year—a 38% increase. Of those killed, 19 were automobile crashes involving a collision with another vehicle or fixed object, 9 were single-vehicle crashes, and 27 were struck-by fatalities. With an increase of 93% over this time last year, it is evident that struck-by fatalities continue to remain a pressing concern.

Helping to Get Officers Home

The law enforcement community continues to look towards online resources more every day for the tools they need to protect their communities and come home safe. One of the many resources includes The VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Program. Through various resources and campaigns such as the "Not Today Challenge", this program encourages officers to take the lead in their safety and well-being by adopting best practices. As we close out National Police Week, we want to take a moment to honor and show respect to our officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This time serves as a reminder for us to continue to spotlight the initiative to make officer safety a daily priority and continue "saving the lives of the people who save lives."
