Class 3 Safety Shirts

A Class 3 safety shirt is a high-visibility garment designed for workers in high-risk environments like highway traffic, night work, or low-visibility areas. It offers the highest level of visibility under ANSI/ISEA 107 standards by covering more of the body with 2" reflective tape on the torso, arms, and shoulders. These shirts are ideal for flaggers, emergency responders, and utility crews working near fast-moving traffic or in poor lighting.

To clean hi-vis safety shirts, use a cold, gentle wash cycle with mild detergent. Avoid using bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh chemicals, as they can degrade the reflective tape. Always air dry or tumble dry on low to maintain ANSI compliance and extend the life of the shirt. Check the care tag for specific instructions.

OSHA requires that workers exposed to vehicular traffic, flagging operations, highway work zones, or excavation near public roads wear high-visibility or reflectorized warning garments (29 CFR 1926.201) — typically shirts in fluorescent colors with retro-reflective tape. For flaggers, OSHA specifies red or orange warning apparel and reflectorized material for night work. Under the General Duty Clause, employers must ensure worker visibility in traffic zones, which effectively means using shirts or vests that meet the ANSI/ISEA 107 standard.
