To clean your safety jacket, always check the care label first. Most hi vis jackets can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle using mild detergent. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners, as they can damage the reflective tape. Turning the jacket inside out while washing can also help protect the reflective tape. OSHA doesn't explicitly list "safety jackets" in its regulations, but it does require workers exposed to vehicular traffic, highway work zones, or construction near roadways to wear high-visibility warning garments (29 CFR 1926.201). This includes garments like vests, jackets, or shirts that meet the ANSI/ISEA 107 standard. In cold weather, Class 2 or Class 3 safety jackets help maintain compliance by combining visibility with warmth.
