To wash hi-vis safety apparel, always check the care label. Most garments can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. OSHA requires workers in environments with vehicular traffic or moving equipment to wear high-visibility warning garments (29 CFR 1926.201). While OSHA doesn’t list each item (like shirts or jackets) by name, any ANSI/ISEA 107-compliant apparel—including vests, shirts, jackets, and rain gear—can be used to meet the visibility requirement.
